Volunteer

Volunteers play a vital role in advancing Duke Health’s mission by supporting meaningful moments of connection, gratitude, and service. Through opportunities like the Thank‑A‑Thon or volunteering in one of our hospitals, individuals help strengthen relationships that make patient care, research, and discovery possible.

Thank-a-thon

Each year, Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs hosts our annual Thank‑A‑Thon—a special volunteer event focused on expressing gratitude to our philanthropic partners through phone calls, handwritten notes, video messages, and texts. Volunteers enjoy a fun, high‑energy atmosphere with refreshments, special guest appearances, and a small thank‑you gift at the end of their shift.

The event date is typically announced in the fall. For questions or to learn more, email us at dhdonorrelations@dm.duke.edu.

Duke Health Volunteer Services

Volunteering has many benefits, from meeting new people and sharing your skills to feeling needed and appreciated. It also gives you the personal satisfaction of knowing you are helping others, including Duke Health patients, their families, our staff, or your community. If you want to get involved, there are more than 30 in-person volunteer programs throughout the Duke Health system. Positions may vary by hospital. Contact the hospitals with questions and for more information.
