Innovation is the spark that generates discovery, advances health for people and communities, and inspires future leaders. Davison Club and Medical Alumni Fund

Alumni support is critical to the vitality and health of academic institutions and the Duke University School of Medicine is fortunate to have many alumni who are actively supporting the institution through their time and generosity. Bessie Baker Society

Bessie BakerThe Bessie Baker Society, named for the Duke University School of Nursing’s first dean, Bessie Baker, BS, RN, recognizes the Duke University School of Nursing’s most dedicated supporters. Her dynamic personality and forceful character helped ensure the success of the School from its earliest days. The support from the society’s members today continues to ensure the School’s current and future success.

The Bessie Baker Society honors the generosity of individuals who have made an annual fund gift of $1,000 or more [$500 for recent nursing school graduates (2013-2018)] to the Duke University School of Nursing. Bessie Baker Society members receive invitations to educational and recognition events from the School of Nursing and Duke Health.

Shingleton Society

William ShingletonThe Shingleton Society honors the generosity of those who, during a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) have made a gift of $1,000 or more. The impact of this philanthropy is significant as Duke Cancer Institute continues its quest to extend and improve the lives of all people with cancer. The Shingleton Society pays tribute to Dr. William W. Shingleton, the founding director of Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, now known as Duke Cancer Institute.

Shingleton Society donors fuel groundbreaking breakthroughs at Duke. This committed group of annual donors stands shoulder-to-shoulder with world-class physicians, researchers, and caregivers—all dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by cancer. We are grateful to every donor who has chosen to partner with us in our quest to change the rules on cancer.
